Diana welcomed friends, family members and supporters to her campaign kick-off Sunday, Aug. 23 at the Lakers Clubhouse.
She shared some of the personal experiences behind her decision to run, including her family’s nearly 100-year roots in the Vernon area, her involvement with local community organizations, and more than 30 years of professional leadership experience.
“I already think Vernon is an incredible place to live, but I want to help make it even better,” Wilson told those attending.
Diana said that means building a community that attracts and retains young people and families, supports local businesses and a vibrant economy, and ensures seniors have the services and opportunities they need to remain active and connected.
She pointed to challenges including water supply and drought, affordable housing, homelessness and downtown revitalization, emphasizing that complex issues require thoughtful discussion, collaboration and informed decision-making.
The event also gave attendees an opportunity to share their views. Wilson asked guests to identify what they believe is the most important issue facing Vernon, along with ideas they would like Council to consider and people or organizations she should connect with during the campaign.
“My goal now is to get out into the community and meet, listen and learn from as many people as possible. I want to understand what matters to people across Vernon and hear different perspectives.”
And then there was the group photo!

Diana is incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make the afternoon happen, and to everyone who have encouraged, supported and believed in her as she takes on this new adventure.
“A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to support me. Looking around the room and seeing so many friends, family members, former colleagues, and some new faces – was incredibly meaningful.”
